Diagram-Based Quiz Study Guide: How QuizAppa Label Matching Works

A practical JHS and SHS guide to QuizAppa diagram-based quizzes, where students match diagram labels to the correct answers and review the completed diagram after submission.

QuizAppa Diagram-Based Quiz is designed for JHS and SHS learners. The quizzes are built as label-matching activities: a student studies the quiz diagram, selects a label such as A or B, then chooses the answer that correctly matches that label. Each label is marked separately, so one diagram can contain several scoring points.

Quick Revision Tips

  • Read the diagram header and prompt before selecting any label.
  • Tap one label first, then choose the matching answer from the answer list.
  • Every label must be matched before moving to the next diagram.
  • Use review mode to compare your matches with the completed diagram and correct answers.

What a Diagram-Based Quiz Shows

Each QuizAppa diagram question can include a header, a prompt, a quiz diagram, and a set of labels. The labels are the parts the student must match. The answers are shown separately, and the app shuffles them so students have to think through the match instead of memorising the order.

The diagram image can be opened in zoom view. This is important on mobile because small labels, arrows, parts, or written details may need a closer look before choosing an answer.

How To Answer the Matching Question

Start by selecting a label from the Labels panel. The app then prompts you to select the answer for that label. After choosing an answer, the label shows the answer you matched to it.

One answer is meant for one label. If you use an answer for another label, the app treats it as already used, helping you notice when you may be repeating a match.

  • Select a label before tapping an answer.
  • Use Clear if you selected a label and want to remove its match.
  • Check every label before pressing Next Page or Submit.
  • If a label is confusing, zoom the diagram and compare it with the answer choices.

How Scoring Works

QuizAppa scores diagram-based quizzes by label, not only by whole diagram. If one diagram has five labels, it can contribute five marks. A label is correct when the answer matched to it is the correct answer for that same label.

The app will not let you move forward during normal practice until all labels on the current diagram have been matched. In timed mode, the quiz can still be submitted when time ends, so it is wise to match the labels you know first.

What Happens in Review Mode

After submission, the score page can lead to review mode for users who have access. In review mode, QuizAppa shows the completed diagram when one has been uploaded, so students can compare the quiz diagram with the correct version.

The review section lists each label, shows whether your match was correct or incorrect, displays your match, and displays the correct match. If the quiz author added an overall explanation, that explanation appears below the matching review.

  • Use the completed diagram to see the correct labelled structure.
  • Write down labels you missed and the answer you confused them with.
  • Redo the diagram later without looking at the completed version.
  • Pay attention to labels that look similar, because those are common sources of mistakes.

How To Study With Diagram Matching

Before opening a diagram-based quiz, revise the topic by learning both the name and function of important parts. For science, this may include organs, apparatus, circuits, or processes. For other subjects, it may include maps, tools, symbols, product parts, or labelled structures.

After the quiz, do not only record the total score. Review the specific labels you missed. Since each label is marked separately, improving one weak label at a time can quickly raise your next score.

  • Practise naming each labelled part before checking the answer list.
  • Explain the function of each answer in your own words.
  • Redraw important diagrams and label them from memory.
  • Use timed mode only after you can match the main labels accurately.

Where To Find Diagram-Based Quizzes

In QuizAppa, Diagram-Based Quiz is available as a quiz for JHS and SHS classes. After choosing JHS or SHS, students select Diagram-Based Quiz, choose a subject, then open the available quiz set for practice.

This format is especially useful for subjects where students must recognise labelled parts, match names to structures, or review a completed diagram after attempting it.
