How do I check the meaning of a word?

Dictionary lookup helps students understand unfamiliar words without leaving the quiz. It is most useful in passages, explanations, theory answers, and long question text.
Quick Revision Tips
- Open a quiz question, passage, explanation, or theory answer
- Touch and hold or mouse-hold one word for about 2 seconds
- Wait for the meaning popup to appear
- Use the audio button if pronunciation is available
- Click outside the popup or press close to dismiss it
- Check your internet connection if a new word does not load
Where It Works
The lookup works best on normal readable text. It may not work on images, diagrams, or text that is part of a picture because the browser cannot select those words as text.
The first lookup for a word may need internet access. After the meaning is loaded, QuizAppa can reuse cached definitions where possible.
Study Tip
Use the dictionary when one word blocks your understanding of a question, but do not stop for every word during timed practice. In timed mode, mark difficult vocabulary mentally and review it after the quiz.
For revision, write down repeated difficult words from English, Science, Social Studies, and theory explanations.
